What’s a Micro Wedding Photographer?

July 17, 2024

Hey babe! If you’re here, odds are you’re at least curious about having a micro wedding for your special day. And as a micro wedding photographer, I just want to say… HECK FREAKIN YES. Micro weddings are so special and near to my heart. It wasn’t until recently that I absolutely fell in love with them. But as soon as I shot my first micro wedding, I knew it was going to be something I want to do forever.

What the heck is a micro wedding?

I am so glad you asked… A micro wedding is a small wedding ceremony with only the bride and groom’s closest friends and family. Usually less than 50 people. Think just you, the love of your life, and your favorite people. All at your favorite place. Whether it’s the backyard of your childhood home or an airbnb in the mountains of Colorado- you really can’t go wrong.

Micro weddings have a few specific characteristics:

  • Usually 50 people or less
  • Often a lot shorter days because of their size
  • Very flexible because there are few guests
  • Typically isn’t a wedding party, because the people in your wedding party are the guests!!

Micro weddings are such a sweet opportunity to have a beautiful wedding day, but on a much more intimate, personal level. Because they are so much smaller, they quickly become so much more intentional. As a bride, you truly can pay attention to every detail because you are doing everything on, well, a micro scale.

Why do I love a micro weddings?

Okay, so I have always identified as just a wedding photographer. So, why am I calling myself a micro wedding photographer now? Well… because I have absolutely fallen in love with the intimacy and intentionality of a micro wedding.

For me, I feel so much for peace at smaller weddings, in general. And I have found that micro weddings take that to a whole new level. If you know me (or have hired me, lol!!), you know I have such a heart for the details. And micro weddings give so much space for just that- the details.

So why do I love micro weddings?

To put it simply- they are more intentional. They allow so much more flexibility throughout the day. And honestly… I feel like we truly get to spend so much more time on what the wedding is actually about- the couple.

This is a very new transition for me into specializing in micro weddings. But it is one that I feel so much peace and confidence about.

So if you are looking for a micro wedding photographer, or you just have more questions about what the heck a micro wedding even is… let’s chat!

In the meantime, be on the lookout for ALL the content coming about micro weddings!! I cannot freakin wait!!

love ya, babes!
